    bearshare 5 beta version and windows 7 {working well}

Anybody got "the bear" working on windows 7 beta rc or whatever it's called?
I've got a copy of the beta and I'm going to try it next week.
Do we just run it in compatabilaty mode to XP or what?
I have never had vista so I'm not sure what's the way to go about it all.
I assume running all programs in compatabilty mode will work?If they work in XP you can get them to work in windows 7????
Will that be the same for firewalls and anti viruses.
I'm sure somebody out there has done it all already.

Should be a very similar situation to running it on Vista, and I hear Win7 has better compatibility capabilities. I'd be curious as to how the current version of BearStart copes with Win7 also.

Post a BearDiag listing once you have done it - I am really curious how it works under Win7.
Dear Santa, please send more bandwidth. Same request as last year...

    Will do.
I'll install everything as compatible with vista then, and see how it goes.
The PC is due for delivery in about seven days time.So it will be a few days after that.
It all depends on how much time I get to set it all up.I'm looking forward to doing it all,but a little nervous.I'm really not all that tech minded, but thanks to yourself and many others I'm less daunted.

Right up and running windows 7 RC on my brand new PC.
I'm well pleased so very much faster.
It's took a day or two to put what I want in.
Installed the bear in XP mode as well as run as admin.Did the same for bearstart and up she came no bother.Updated hostile and contacts.
I seem to have to run in debug thing to get it to connect. When I get time I'll leave it running for a fair few hours and then try it without the debug.
    Anyway here's a beardiag.
By the way I like this windows seven.
    It runs like a dream.
Few little things to sort out but on the whole great.

Windows 7 is being detected as Vista - I'll update BearDiag to tell the difference.

I see you have tweaked your bandwidth usage settings to allow it to co-exist with uTorrent.

Comodo Firewall appears to be working well.

Disk drive 85% full already? Wow!

    Happy BearSharing!
Dear Santa, please send more bandwidth. Same request as last year...

Yeah 85% full coz the drive is only 100gb.
I have the drive partitioned plus a separate hard drive as well so I'm well covered.
Plus I had a file called old windows??
    Anyway I deleted that now.
The bear runs great on the proper 7 version as well.
    Well it does for me.
I'm on holiday at the moment so I'll maybe post a new bear dig when I return.
    If I remember.
    I'm in Goa India,having a great time.

Yeah had a great time I forgot to do this for you.
I don't use the bear much nowdays but it runs fine.

    Code:
BEARDIAG ISSUES - brief summary: (Extracted on 2010/02/02 18:18:03)

Network configuration is not set for Static IP address.
BearShare currently shows port 6348 for TCP and port 0 for UDP that need to match with your firewall/router configuration
BearShare "UDP port" setting is 0 - this usually indicates firewall problems with UDP traffic, or that BearShare has not connected properly since installation.
You are behind a NAT firewall and/or router. They need to be correctly configured to allow BearShare to access the Internet.
This is a common cause of problems with BearShare - it can't communicate.
Check your firewall allows BearShare to communicate on TCP port 6348 and UDP port 6348
If your connection is via a router, make sure it can forward BearShare traffic to a static IP address on your computer
Refer to the following guidelines to correctly configure your firewall and router for use:
     - http://cbiweb.com/demo-sites/bearshare/help/firewalls/index.htm - the Firewall FAQ at the old archived official BearShare Help site,
     - www.portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/BearS/BearSindex.htm - the definitive guide to port forwarding and setting up a static IP address.
(Hint: use static IP address 192.168.2.3, TCP Port 6348, and UDP port 6348).
FixLSP.BAT was generated on the desktop and may need to be run (subject to advice) to rectify LSP chain issues.

Network configuration is not set for Static IP address.

Thanks for the feedback and posting an update. Beta testing: I see my new code for extracting the default gateway has reported it twice - I'll fix that in the next release.

Check that the 'nVidea access manager' is not interfering or duplicating the functionality of the Windows firewall or Comodo. It may be an unnecessary burden on your system.

You may wish to configure your environment for a static IP address and port forwarding to obtain the best benefit from BearShare and uTorrent. Details are on the portforward website.
(Hint: use static IP address 192.168.2.3, TCP Port 6348, and UDP port 6348).
Dear Santa, please send more bandwidth. Same request as last year...

    Hi Michael!
The newest version of BearShare? You mean the one that has probably been knobbled by the RIAA affiliated mob that five years ago with extreme duress took over from the original developers under threat of a massive lawsuit? You mean the one that probably won't let you download or share what you want? You mean the one that is probably run by the same crowd that put fake files and spam on the backbone to stifle file sharing?

    Good luck!

This is why we recommend the older, original beta 5.1.0b25 version from the initial developers that were not tainted by the media monopoly agendas.

PS: I looked at the IP address you posted from - file sharing using wireless is always going to be slow, due to the overheads...
